Rasberry Patch

This is where I have been for the past 10 days or so. Well not every moment but a lot of time has been spent getting up close and personal with the abundance of rasberries at the farm this year. I try to explain why a fruit that I really don't like all that much, brings me so much joy every year. There are so many of them, is one reason. Just the shear abundance of berries is joyful. I should explain that we did not plant the rasberry bushes. I don't know if anyone we know planted the bushes. They have always been there. I like to just give the credit to God. So, believing that God planted the bushes, and the overwhelming amount of berries that they produce, just brings joy to my soul. God gives us such beautiful bounty and this bounty just happens to be sweet! So the first day of picking was done by seven children and their grandparents, who are friends of mine. I invited them to visit the farm and see the animals and pick berries. The joy from the kids matched mine. We have a wonderful evening of berry picking and eating! From that point on every day or two was given to picking. I gave some away, took some to gatherings, and stored a lot in the refrigerator, waiting until I had enough for preserving. Finally, I had quarts of rasberries ready to be made into yummy goodies. I chose to make rasberry jam, rasberry sauce and red wine rasberry vinegar. Yum! All the recipes were successful and I was able to share with my family. Which made my sister very happy. I didn't know she was such a rasberry fan until I mentioned that I was making rasberry goodies.
