Cecily and Amelia 4 weeks old and a Mystery!

Cecily's close up.  She loves the camera
Last week, Cecily and Amelia were surprised to have a new roommate.  Mystery joined the girls in the brooder.  Mystery is a week younger and much smaller.  She was hatched with a lot of missing down on her back so we kept her in a smaller brooder with the weaker chicks at the store.  But when the other chicks got stronger, they wen back into the main brooder but Mystery needed to be with other chicks too.  So I brought her home to Cecily and Amelia.  I was surprised at how easily they included her in their flock.  They let her sleep between them and it is the cutest site to see.  They are like little mother hens to Mystery.  I called her Mystery because we don't know why she had no down on her back, and because I can't remember which brooder we took her out of.  So her breed is a mystery for now.  Her feathers are growing in just fine and soon we won't be able to see that she had no down when hatched.

This week the girls got a few pieces of  sticks to perch on.  They tried a bit of lettuce and love when I let them out on the floor so they can exercise their wings.  I have a new chick corral on order so the girls can have more room to run around when it arrives next week.  Things are getting a bit tight in the brooder box these days!
